D. Bedford Forestry Services Inc.
Rooted in Experience. Growing the Future of Forestry.
D. Bedford Forestry Services Inc. is a silviculture company based on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, specializing in Pre-Commercial Thinning (PCT) and Early Competition Control (ECC). With 29 years of hands-on experience, we support both private woodlot owners and large land management companies in building healthier, stronger, and more resilient forests across the province.
Our Story
This business began from a simple place - a love of working in the forest.
Dennis’s forestry career in Nova Scotia spans more than 25 years as a co-owner of an established forestry company. That experience built a strong foundation in silviculture operations and land stewardship. The years revealed a growing challenge across the sector: a shortage of trained people to carry this work forward.
The creation of D. Bedford Forestry Services Inc. represents a focused evolution in response to that challenge. What started as a passion for forestry has grown into a clear mission; to improve the health and sustainability of Nova Scotia’s forests while strengthening the long-term resilience of the workforce through hands-on training and mentorship.
Today, that mission is carried out through high-quality silviculture services and a one-of-a-kind workforce development program.
